An phríomhaidhm atá againn i Scoil Aonghusa ná oideachas lán-Ghaeilge a chur ar fáil do na daltaí go léir.  Táthar ag súil go rachaidh a saol scoile i bhfeidhm orthu go dearfach le linne a tréimhse sa Ghaelscoil, agus go mbeidh cuimhní deimhneacha acu ar a saol scoile amach anseo.

Tá sé mar aidhm ag Gaelscoil Scoil Aonghusa a bhfuil de mhaitheas i ngach páiste a chothú agus a thabhairt chun foirfeachta agus gach páiste a chur ar thóir na maitheasa sa saol atá thart air/uirthi.

Is í an Ghaeilge teanga na scoile .  Is trí mheán na Gaeilge a ghlacann na páistí páirt i ngach rud ar scoil agus moltar do pháistí páirt a ghlacadh i ngach gné den chultúr –teanga, cluichí, ceol, damhsa, traidisiún.

Scoil Aonghusa is a mixed all Irish speaking school.  The school is under the patronage of the Archbishop of Armagh and the teachings of our school are according to the Catholic ethos.

The main aim of the school is to provide an education through the medium of Irish for each student.  It is hoped that school life will have a positive effect on each child throughout their time spent in the school and that all children will have positive memories of the school and their education.

It is an aim of the school to develop and to bring to the fore the good and the talents of each child in order that each child can contribute positively to their environment and community.

Irish is the first language of the school and all children are encouraged to participate in every aspect of our Irish culture – language, games, music, dance and traditions.  It is through the Irish language that children participate in school activities.

Iarrtar ar thuismitheoirí ar mian leo a bpáistí a chlárú i Scoil Náisiúnta Gaelscoil Scoil Aonghusa foirm chlárúcháin a líonadh mar aon le teastas breithe ag ár lá clárú i halla na scoile i Mí Eanáir go hiondúil. Coinneofar gach eolas faoi rún.

Polasaí  Clárúcháin  -  Enrolment  Policy

Athbhreithniú 2015

Tá an polasaí seo á chur le chéile i gcomhthéacs an tAcht Oideachais 1998. Cuireadh Bord Bainistíochta na scoile an polasaí seo le chéile chun cabhrú le tuismitheoirí/ caomhnóirí agus Bord Bainistíochta na scoile páistí a chlárú sa scoil.

The Board of Management of Scoil Aonghusa has agreed this policy in accordance with the provisions of The Education Act 1998. It is hoped that this policy will assist the parents/guardians of prospective pupils and the Board of Management in the process of enrolling pupils.

Is bunscoil lán-Ghaelach mheascaithe í Scoil Aonghusa.  Is faoi phatrúnacht  Easpag  Ard Mhácha atá an scoil  agus tá teagasc na scoile bunaithe ar éiteas Caitliceach.

Parents seeking to enrol their child(ren) in Scoil Aonghusa are requested to complete an Enrolment Application Form which should be submitted with an original Birth / Adoption Certificate at the enrolment day that takes place in the school hall in January. All information submitted with an application will be treated in the strictest confidence.

De réir rialacha na Roinne Oideachais is gá do pháiste a bheith 4 bliain d’aois ar 1 Meán Fómhair de bhlian a hiarratais scoile.

Notice of the date of the enrolment day will be posted online on www.scoilaonghusa.com and advertised in the local parish bulletin and local newspaper.

The names of children for whom Enrolment Application forms and Birth / Adoption Certificates have been received on that day will be placed on a class waiting list.  Under the Rules of the Department of Education and Science pupils may only be enrolled from the age of 4 years as of September 1st of the year of application.

Déanfar cinneadh maidir le clárú taobh istigh de 21 lá ón lá a ghlacfar le foirm iarratais. Iarrfar ar thuismitheoirí/caomhnóirí tairiscint áite scoile a ghlacadh taobh istigh de 14 lá nó seans go gcaillfear an áit.

Decisions on enrolment will be given in writing within 21 days of receipt of a completed application form. The offer of a place must be accepted within a period of 14 days otherwise the place may be forfeited.

Má tá tuismitheoir/ caomhnóir míshásta le cinneadh a rinne tá sé de rogha acu achomharc a dhéanamh in aghaidh an chinnidh sin agus litir a scríobh chuig Príomhoide na scoile.

Any parent may appeal a decision relating to the refusal of the enrolment of their child by writing a letter for the attention of the Príomhoide.

Tá saorchead comhionann i gceist nuair a dhéantar cinneadh áit a bhronnadh sa scoil.  Ní dhiúltaítear d'aon pháiste de bharr cine riachtanais speisialta oideachais, míchumas, teanga / canúint, gnéas, bheith mar bhall den lucht siúil, bheith mar theifeach, ar bhonn creidimh / polaitíochta nó ar bhonn cúinsí baile nó sóisialta.

Equality of access is the key value that determines the enrolment of children to our school.  No child is refused admission for reasons of ethnicity, special educational needs, disability, language/accent, gender, traveller status, asylum-seeker/refugee status, religious or political beliefs and values, family or social circumstances, provided that there is space in the school and the school is in a position to cater for the needs of the child

Cé go bhfuil sé de cheart ag tuismitheoirí a bpáistí a chlárú in aon scoil, tá Bord Bainistíochta Scoil Náisiúnta Scoil Aonghusa freagrach as cearta phobal na scoile a chosaint, na páistí atá cláraithe cheanna féin go háirithe.  Chun a leithéid a bhaint amach is gá cinneadh cothrom a dhéanamh bunaithe ar phrionsabail cheartais aiceanta agus iad ag feidhmiú ar son leasa gach páiste.  D'fhéadfadh an Bord Bainistíochta uasmhéid ranga i ngach seomra a shocrú chun cúinsí dá leithéid a chur i bhfeidhm, bunaithe ar :

              a.   toisc / spás atá ar fáil i seomraí ranga

              b.   riachtanais oideachais a bheadh ag páistí ag aois áirithe

              c.   ranganna leis an iliomad grád

              d.   páistí ann le riachtanais speisialta oideachais / iompair

              e.   moltaí ón Roinn Oideachais agus Eolaíochta maidir le huasmhéid ranga

While recognising the right of parents to enroll their child in the school of their choice, the Board of Management of Scoil Aonghusa is also responsible for the rights of the existing school community and in particular, the children already enrolled. The Board of Management reserves the right to refuse enrolment in exceptional circumstances if, in the opinion of the Board of Management, there is evidence of a risk to other pupils, staff or school property.  This requires balanced judgments, which are guided by the principles of natural justice and acting in the best interest of all children.  Assisting the school in such circumstances, the Board of Management, with due regard for the Patron's wishes, reserves the right to determine the maximum number of children in each separate classroom bearing in mind:

          *   size of / available space in classrooms

          *    availability of grants and teacher resources provided by the Department of    Education  and Science.

            *    educational needs of children of a particular age

            *     multi-grade classes

            *      presence of children with special educational / behaviour needs

            *      Department of Education and Science maximum class average directives.

Fáilteofar roimh ghach iarratas.  Sa chás go sáraíonn an líon dalta, atá ag lorg áite in aon rang amháin, an méid spáis atá ar fáil, roimh nó le linn scoilbhliain áirithe (toisc nach bhfuil sé d'acmhainn ag an mBord Bainistíochta cóiríocht bhreise a chur ar fáil nó earcaíocht a dhéanamh ar an bhfoireann a bheadh ag teastáil) cuirfear na critéir seo a leanas i bhfeidhm chun tosaíocht a thabhairt do pháistí áirithe clárú sa scoil :

             i.   Deartháireacha agus Deirfiúracha ag freastal ar an scoil cheanna féin

             ii.   Suim sa Ghaeilge***

iii.   Aois - tosaíocht don duine is sine.

Any parent is welcome to apply to enroll a child in the school. In the event of the number of children seeking enrolment in a given year exceeding the number of places available preceding or during the school year (due to the Board of Management being unable to provide suitable accommodation, or recruit the required teaching staff) the following criteria will be used by the School to assist in making the selection:

             i.   Brothers and sisters already attending the school

ii.   Interest in the Irish language***

iii.   Age-priority given to the eldest children

Cuirfear critéir iii i bhfeidhm agus tosaíocht a thabhairt do na páistí is sine má tá níos mó páiste ag chomhlíonadh critéir i agus ii ná mar atá áiteanna scoile

In the event that the number of children enrolled pursuant to criteria i and ii above exceeds the number of spaces available then age-priority will be given to the eldest child or children.

Ciallaíonn suim sa Ghaeilge:

(a) Páiste ó theaghlach ina bhfuil Gaeilge acu mar phríomh-theanga baile

(b)Tá ar a laghad tuismitheoir amháin líofa sa Ghaeilge

*Interest in the Irish language means:

(a) A child from a family where Irish is the first language at home or

(b) at least one parent is fluent in the Irish Language.

An brí atá le Gaeilge líofa sa chás seo ná

  • Féadfar duine Gaeilge a labhairt comh maith ná a t(h)eanga dhúchais
  • Féadfar duine a g(h)nó laethúil ar fad a chomhlíonadh trí mheán na Gaeilge

Fluent in the Irish language means:

  • That one can speak the Irish language as well as, or almost as well as their native tongue, or
  • One has the ability to carry out their daily business in Irish

Déantar clárú ar dhaltaí eile i rith na bliana scoile (má bhogann siad isteach sa cheantar ó Ghaelscoil eile). Déantar clárú ar dhaltaí ar mian leo aistriú ó scoileanna eile de réir Rialacha do Scoileanna Náisiúnta mar aon le polasaí clárúcháin na scoile agus aontais áitiúla le scoileanna eile. De réir an tAcht Leasa Oideachais 2000 lorgófar tuairiscí scoile nó measúnú ar an bpáiste.

Other pupils may be enrolled during the school year if newly resident in the area and moving from another Gaelscoil or Gaeltacht area.  Pupils wishing to transfer from other schools are enrolled subject to the Rules governing National Schools, as well as our own school's enrolment policy and local agreements with other schools. Under the terms of The Education Welfare Act (2000) information concerning attendance and the child's educational progress are to be provided by the school from which the child is transferring.

Réachtáiltear lá oscailte bliantúil i Mí Meitheamh do thuismitheoirí agus daltaí nua. Cuirfear breis eolas ar fáil nuair atá áit faighte ag do pháiste sa scoil.

There is an Open Day for prospective parents and pupils held in June. Further information will be given when your child has secured a place in the school.

Cuirfear acmhainní ar fáil do pháistí le riachtanais speisialta mar is féidir, leis an méid

achmhainní a chuireann an Roinn Oideachais ar fáil don Bhord

Bainistíochta. De réir mar a oireann iarrfar ar thuismitheoir/caomhnóir miontuairisc ar mhíchumas, riachtanais speisialta an pháiste maraon le tuairisc leighis, mheasúnaithe nó síceolaíoch a thabhairt chun na scoile chun go féidir leis an an scoil freastal ar riachtanais an pháiste. Déanfar maoiniú ar pháistí le riachtanais speisialta de réir achmhainní a chuirtear ar fáil don Bhord Bainistíochta ón Roinn Oideachais.

Children with special needs will be resourced in accordance with the level of resources provided by the Department of Education to the Board of Management. The Board of Management may request a copy of a child’s Medical/Psychological records in order to establish the educational needs and to see what support services may be required. These records will be treated with the strictest confidence. Where necessary, the Board of Management may request the Department of Education to provide such further resources as may be required to meet the need of a particular child.

Ainneoin go mbeadh acmhainní den sórt seo ar fáil sa scoil, cuirtear comhairle ar thuismitheoir nach mbeadh sásta leis na hacmhainní seo, a bpáiste a chur chuig scoil speisialta a dhéanann freastal go sainiúil ar pháistí le riachtanais speisialta oideachais.

Notwithstanding the availability of such resources, parents of children who are unsatisfied with the level of educational provision in our school, are advised to consider a special school which is designed and resourced to specifically cater for the need of children with special needs.

Éilítear ar gach páiste a chláraítear inár scoil comhoibriú agus tacú leis an gcóras smachta a chuireann an Bord Bainistíochta i bhfeidhm mar aon le polasaithe eile faoin gcuraclam, faoi riarachán agus faoi bhainistíocht. Glacann an Bord Bainistíochta leis go bhfuil tuismitheoirí/caomhnóir freagrach as a chinntiú go ndéanann a bpáistí comhoibriú leis na polasaithe thuasluaite go sásúil ag brath ar a n-aois.

Children enrolled in our school are required to co-operate with and support the School / Board of Management's Code of Behaviour as well as all other policies on curriculum, organisation and management. The Board of Management places Parents/Guardians responsible for ensuring that their child(ren) co-operate with said policies in an age-appropriate way.

Déanfar athbhreithniú tréimhsiúil ar an bpolasaí seo.

This policy may be added to and revised from time to time.

Beidh Príomhoide na scoile lán sásta aon cheisteanna a eascraíonn as an bpolasaí seo a shoiléiriú nó a fhreagairt.

Please contact the Príomhoide if you require any further information or assistance with regard to this policy.
